One of my favorite authors, Steve Levitt, admitted in a recent blog that he is reading the Twilight series.
"Although I will say I was somewhat disappointed with the book, an outside observer would laugh at that description, given that I read it in less than a week. My kids would remind me that I told them they would have to make their own dinner because I had to finish the book to find out whether Bella would turn into a vampire or not. I guess the fact that I ordered the other three books in the series from Amazon also gives me away."

Mr. Strusz, I have to say im quite disappointed in you for judging the twilight book without even reading it. The saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" totally applies here.
A valid argument you're making.
My main distaste for Twilight probably revolves around a few things.
If you sincerely think I would enjoy the book, I'd gladly read one to give it a whirl.
Good book or not, I was hoping this reading project would diverge a bit more than it did.
As an English teacher, I can't really hate too much on reading of any kind. That was kind of the point of the project.
I just get discouraged when I hear people say they couldn't find ANYTHING to read, so they'll just jump on the bandwagon.
Is it for the literary quality, or is it merely teenage girls trying to fit in? I don't know exactly.
You also make a good point.
And you actually probably wouldn't like the book if you read it. And yes if I were a teacher I would probably get annoyed too that every girl in my class started reading the same book. I would just like to say I was reading those books before I knew of this project and now I'm just finishing them. To make you happy I'll read something else though. :P
