Damned in a Swamp

Swamplandia!Swamplandia is a rather odd book set at an alligator wrestling theme park in swampy Florida. The family members each attest to a different belief system, and (the father especially) scoff at the ideas from the mainlanders. At the point I'm at in the book, the son Kiwi runs to the mainland to see what it's all about. At this point he has no intention of going back, he wants to see what's out there.

The song Barton Hollow follows a narrator who is afraid of the devil lurking in the Alabama swampland(ia). There's no way he's going back. It has a southern twang and has an gutsy flair to it. Will the narrator of the song actually be damned. Will Swamplandia's kiwi ever find the truth on the mainland. I don't know?!? I think I'll wash over my fears and suspicions with this tune by The Civil Wars (one of my new favorite bands). *Pressing Play*

This week I read for 30 min!
Total Time: 20.5 hours
