WEEK 1: My Goals (The Last Lap)

As this is my last time doing this project, I'm a little sad, but very excited to kick it off with my first post. 4 years ago as I was finishing teaching Senior English, I asked them on a year end survey if I could get next year's juniors to read 200 books independently. They said it couldn't be done. Well 4 years later, I've seen students record hundreds of hours of reading hundreds of books. I wish someone would have pushed me when I was your age to fall back in love with reading sooner. It would have made school easier for me and would have made me a wiser young adult.

My goal for this year is to encourage this last group of English students in my care to read more than every other year, including last year's group of almost 100 students (dealing with about 70 this year). I plan to do this by being the best example I can be. Good luck to all those trying to beat me for an A+. You can do it. I'm a busy man.

I read for .5 hrs this week. I started a comedy book called: This is a Book by Demetri Martin. I like to start off the year by reading something light. This book is pretty funny, although the chapters 2-4 have been a little hit or miss. I may or may not finish it (did I mention you can do that?).

Hours read this week: 1/2 hour
Total hours: 1/2 hour
