(Graphic Design) First Photoshop Assignment - Movie Poster Merge(November 7, 2012)

Your task: Photoshop a celebrity onto a movie poster, or movie scene, in which they clearly don't belong. (Due Friday)

For playing with layers consider the following tips:

  • Experiment with stacking layers in front of and behind each other.
  • Use a variety of selection tools to select the object you need to copy.
  • FEATHER YOUR SELECTIONS BEFORE COPYING TO A NEW LAYER - this gives it a natural, slightly fuzzy edge to objects. (Select + Modify + Feather - 1pt is fine)
  • Try Selecting  a layer and....

  • Press control T in order to resize and rotate just that layer.
  • Press control J and the whole layer will be copied onto a new layer, but if you have something selected, only that part will be copied onto a new layer.
  • Control + Click on a specific layer, and the entire layer will be selected by a marquee

One of the big skills I'm going to be looking for, is how accurately you cut out your person, and how realistic they look in the new setting. You can make 2 if you get bored (it would also increase your chances of an A)

I'm much more experienced with Photoshop than I am with Illustrator, so please feel free to ask if you need tips. I've been using Photoshop for 14 years, now. I know the program pretty well.
