(Graphic Design) Tracing with the Pen Tool Continued (August 30, 2013)

Today we will make our first stab and turning a raster image into a vector image.

1. Open illustrator and create a document 10 in by 10 in
2. Copy this dog
3. Paste it onto the artboard (Control + V).
4. We will practice together manually editing the dog to make a vector image.

I'll also teach you a few other keyboard shortcuts today. The most important being:

Control + ] - Bring layer forward
Control + [ - Send layer back
Shift + Cntrl + [ or ] - Send all the way to back/front

You can also shift layers by right clicking, or using the layers (Windows > Layers) panel.
