As I read more of this book, I come to appreciate what journalism means to me.
I've come to realize that without journalists, I would be very much reliant on the word of mouth news I hear from my peers. This isn't always trustworthy when we consider 1. Everyone I know is sinful 2. Not even journalists who share the news for a living are honest all of the time.
The book has also made me more thankful for journalists who continue to make the news interesting, especially with issues people tend to ignore.
It made me thankful for journalists who are independent in their reporting in that even if they lean one way or another, they support their argument with facts and use a pragmatic approach.
Lastly, the book is challenging me to think like a good journalist in that it has given me new ways to reevaluate what is important in what I teach, and it has revealed to me new ways to make sharing plain facts fresh and exciting.
